Middlesbrough 0 - 1 West Brom
Newcastle 1 - 2 Blackburn
Stoke City 0 - 2 Chelsea
Arsenal 1 - 2 Hull City

In the first game of the weekend Everton’s poor home form continued after being dominated by Liverpool with 2 goals from Torres in the second half. Aston Villa continues their good start with goals from Young and Carew with Cisse scoring for Sunderland while Zola got another win under his belt as West Ham manager with goals from Cole and Etherington with Murphy pulling one back for Fulham who had Johnson sent off.
Man Utd had one of the worse penalty decisions ever to be grateful for that helped break the deadlock at Old Trafford with a penalty from Ronaldo before Rooney slotted in the second while West Brom got an important win away to M’boro with goal from Olsson. Newcastle’s dreadful start continued as they went down 2-1 at home to Blackburn, Samba and Santa Cruz had given Blackburn a 2-0 lead before Owen pulled one back.
Chelsea continued their push for another title with another win, this time at Stoke with goals from Bosingwa and Anelka. In the biggest result seen in the EPL Hull City stunned Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium. Hull fell behind to an own goal before Geovanni scored a fantastic goal and Cousin’s headed in the winner to leave Arsenal shocked. Portsmouth got back to winning ways after conceding 10 in 2 games with a 2-0 win against troubles Spurs with goals from Defoe (Pen) and Crouch, with Spurs fans venting their anger at boss Ramos with chants of ‘You don’t know what you’re doing’ and in the other Sunday game Wigan beat big spending Man City with goals from Valencia and Zaki (Pen) with City’s goal coming from Kompany.
I watched the 4 games that were on Sky, first the Merseyside derby and a one sided one at that, Everton were woeful and while Liverpool weren’t that much better as Everton basically just gave them the ball they more then deserved the win with 2 good goals from Torres and I thought Gerrard put in a very mature performance in the middle too, less gung hoey and more disciplined. As for Everton the tactics were awful and they just didn’t look like doing anything and the red card was a little harsh but Cahill did raise his hands to Arbeola in the first half which should of been a booking and the lunge was yellow card worthy as well.
Hull put in a spirited performance against Arsenal who seemed to think they could just turn up to win and tried walking the ball into the net like they usually do, big shock result that one!
Spurs were pitiful against Pompey and some of Ramos’s decisions were baffling, like playing Gilberto and taking off one striker for another when chasing the game, and the fans vented their fury as well, he must be feeling the pressure now.
Wigan worked hard against City to get the win, not sure about the winner though, the player made the most of the challenge! Really like the look of Zaki too, be surprised if a bigger club don’t come in for him next season.
Elsewhere Newcastle’s woes continued with another defeat while Rob Styles made one of the worse penalty decisions ever at Old Trafford, really really bad, couldn’t believe he gave that, he must of had a few quid on United and was getting worried!
Villa really do look a very good team again and with more depth this season could well challenge the top 4, if anyone is going to do it I think it will be them, while West Ham moved upto 5th as well so a good start for them!
